The Full Story
Upenyu Nerwamangwana is a voluntary community group dedicated to promoting cultural education and unity within the United Kingdom. Our goal is to share and celebrate the heritage, traditions, and stories of our native countries, helping to build understanding and appreciation among diverse communities.
We also provide a welcoming space for people living in the UK to connect, interact, and form meaningful relationships. By bringing people together through cultural events, discussions, and community activities, Upenyu Nerwamangwana aims to create a strong sense of belonging and togetherness — a true “sense of community.”

Our
Story
How We Started
Our founder, who began as a youth worker, saw firsthand the challenges faced by many migrant families with teenagers. These parents were working long hours and often couldn’t access or provide after-school opportunities for their children. Traditional youth clubs carried a negative reputation, leaving few safe and positive spaces for young people to turn to. This inspired the creation of our organisation — a place designed to support today’s youth in building a better tomorrow. We aim to help young people integrate, discover opportunities, and develop confidence, while also engaging parents by offering educational guidance and empowering them to create nurturing environments for their children.
What we do
Delivering Impact Every Day
We create safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for young people and their families to grow, connect, and thrive. Through tailored youth programmes, mentoring, and educational workshops, we support young people in developing confidence, life skills, and a sense of belonging within their communities.
Our work extends beyond youth engagement — we also partner with parents, providing guidance and resources that help them better support their children’s education and wellbeing. By bridging the gap between families, schools, and local opportunities, we aim to build stronger communities and brighter futures for the next generation.
