 Upenyu Nerwamangwana

Upenyu Nerwamangwana is a voluntary group with the translation being ' life today and tomorrow ' which aims to educate the people in the United Kingdom about our Native countries at the same time offering an opportunity to meet, interact with new people already living in the UK offering a “sense of community”.

Objectives

Our Group Objectives are:

  • To develop a community advice centre which will provide a focal point for information, learning and encourage the community participate in the community matters.

  •  To bring the community together in area where opportunities will exist to build better relationships, develop communication skills encourage people to take a greater interest in their community.

  • To educate the local community about our culture as well as offer Shona and Ndebele lessons

The group (Upenyu Nerwamangwana) has worked with Bedfordshire County Council Youth Service by offering young people access to youth services. As a result of this project the young people have taken part in the Bedford river festival. The kind of participated events were street dance and much more. The youngsters have enjoyed there hip hop dance routine and would like to do more in the feature.
